The role of the United Nations in the Middle East

Bio: In a span of more than a quarter of a century at the UN, Francesco Manca assumed many roles at both United Nations Headquarters and in the field addressing economic development, electoral assistance, human rights, peacemaking and peacekeeping. He held political and managerial posts in a number of UN peacekeeping missions in Central America, the Balkans, Tajikistan, East Timor, Sierra Leone and in the Middle East. During his long career he has often been invited to deliver lectures and speeches to numerous academic and professional forums in Europe, North and Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
Francesco Manca also returned to Virginia Tech in October 2015. Community Voices members were able to again convene with Manca for a round table luncheon and Manca also participated in a Trustees Without Borders radio interview.
